Is it bad to fire with the cap on the flash hider?

I'm not sure where I should post a topic such as this.

Anyway, I have an Echo 1 G36C and sometimes I fire it before the cap comes off. (sometimes I fire like twice) Anway, is this bad for my gun? (I don't intentually do it, just I forget to pull it off)

lol, I've done the same thing with my mp5.
I don't think it's bad for the gun, as it just leaves a tiny bump in the cover, nothing else.

I have never done it, cause I never put the cap on, but my friend with an Echo 1 M4 did it (With out BBs) and it shot off the gun about 6 feet, and left crack in the cap. I don't think it would really hurt the gun though.
