(i can almost 100% sure that admin looked at this topic and said, "Hey wait a minute.") but anyway my parents told me unless/until i can come up with the money before summer break starts that i cant get my G&G M4 but they said that i could basicly get anything else that i wanted(retarted i know) and i thought hey why not try my luck at an electric guitar, and i know that just because im good at guitar hero doesnt mean im good at a real guitar. But i was looking at guitar center online and i was wondering about epiphone they have a SG that i really like but i dont know if its a full size guitar or not. I play guitar, so I will make some suggestions

First of all, how much can you spend? If it is under 600, get this guitar. I own one and it's GREAT. It doesn't have a dominant sound meaning it is good for any style of music, but not great for just one style of music. I've had mine for a while and the action is great. I have the guitar in wild cherry and it looks amazing. The pictures absolutely don't do the guitar justice. It looks ugly online, but it is sick once you see it. It has coil tap which makes it sound like a strat, or a you can get that humbucker power. It has some other nice features such as grover tuners. (it will stay in tune really well) If they have the red cherry at your store, get that. I don't know what the blue looks like and I did not like the vintage sunburst at all.

Great guitar, better than anything I tried under 1000.

BTW don't buy any flying V style guitars. They are really uncomfortable to hold. You pretty much have to have a strap and stand up to play them comfortably. (they do look sick though)

Wait so explain this to me your not ordering a G&G M4 because you don't have the money but you can buy a 500$ guitar?

1.Stealth im sure thats a great guitar but i dont want to spend much more then $300 on it (I know im cheap) maybe $400
2. Prodigy my parents said that i cant get/have it because 1 its too expensive 2 they think that im going to kill my little brother with it
3. No one has answered my question yet

double post yeah i know but i just thought about it would that guitar(the SG) be a good guitar for metal....stuff?(like metallica) because i have a feeling that im going to be (trying) playing their songs

It sounds like a good guitar. Just go to guitar center and try guitars. NEVER buy a guitar online unless you have played it. All guitars play different and there is no "right" or "wrong" guitar, it's what you like and it depends on what style you play. I highly suggest you go to some music shop and play some guitars.

BTW, won't you need an amp, cable, picks, and such?

well im trying to convince my parents(mom) to take me to my local guitar center to try out some guitars

and my friend has an amp(very cheap) that he will sell me for $20 and possibly a cable and when i get the guitar im going to get a few picks

hmmm as someone whose played for 6 years or so now; GO TO A PAWN SHOP! they have good deals, on fairly good quality pieces. and if you haven't really played guitar much, go cheap; your parents will hate nothing more than you blowing 500 dollars on a wall hanger.

yeah i know i had to clean out my closet to just to let my mom consider me getting one, i might try a pawn shop but the pawn shops around me are really crappy and my local guitar shops are rip-off artists

UPDATE: Ok i just got back from a pawn shop my friend told me to go to and look at the guitars and i found my guitar i know blurry pic i will have more High Quality pictures when i get the chance. And i am really bad at playing anything except 1 cord and open notes have any advice?

I would never buy from a pawn shop. You never know if it is stolen or not. And, is that a gibson? I cant see the brand at the top.

Pawn shops are not that bad. I have been with my cousin they have some nice stuff in there, the guys are a little rough but there easy to bargin with. I have made some money by buying a couple drumsets for cheap from pawn shops then selling them for much more. I like the gutair though are you going to take the lessons?

well everyone has told me to learn scales and stuff like that but i told them i wanna rock and i already know how to read most tabs

UPDATE: I just got back from my local guitar center and it was amazing!!there were so many guitars and you could try all of them, while i was there i got a few things, electronic/chormatic tuner string crank strings strap and heres some more eye candy

I wish my other teacher would have taught me this when I was beginning.

Learn all the chords in the keys (there are more keys, but you don't need to worry about them for now) Even if you can play Through the Fire and the Flames, it doesn't mean anything if you don't know this. This is the most important thing in guitar.

i have been trying to learn the chords on ultimate guitar and thats all they talk about http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/chords/chords_everything_you_need_to_know.html although i get confused on the 5 and 6 string chords and the slashes

Stealth would you recomend getting a "teacher", cause this is really hard and i might be able to get one easily
